Yale couples a superconducting qubit to a single microwave photon
Jul 13, 2004
Andreas Wallraff and colleagues at Yale strongly couple a superconducting qubit to a microwave photon trapped in a resonator on a chip. The experiment lets them observe a controlled interaction between the artificial atom and light.
Why it matters
Controlling interactions between qubits and microwave resonators provides a building block for processing and communicating quantum information on chips.
