Three teams push silicon qubit gates past 99% accuracy
Jun 6, 2021
Three teams report silicon qubit gates above 99% accuracy: Mądzik and colleagues at UNSW in June 2021, Xue and colleagues at QuTech in July, and Noiri and colleagues at RIKEN in August. Each demonstrates both one- and two-qubit gates above this benchmark.
Why it matters
Silicon qubits can draw on the chip industry’s manufacturing experience; reliable one- and two-qubit gates bring them closer to the accuracy needed to correct errors as a computation runs.
