Rigetti launches its 84-qubit Ankaa-3 computer

Rigetti makes Ankaa-3 available to partners through its cloud service and reports median two-qubit fidelities of 99.0% for iSWAP gates and 99.5% for specialized fSim gates. Access through Amazon Braket and Microsoft Azure is still planned for 2025.

Why it matters

A redesigned superconducting processor gives users improved gates, while the different fidelity measures show why a single headline percentage does not describe every operation.

“Rigetti also celebrates major two-qubit gate fidelity milestones with Ankaa-3: successfully halving error rates in 2024 to achieve a median 99.0% iSWAP gate fidelity, as well as demonstrating 99.5% median fidelity fSim gates. Ankaa-3 is now available to its partners via the Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services platform (QCS®) and will be coming to Amazon Braket and Microsoft Azure in the first quarter of 2025.”
