Yale extends error-corrected quantum memory to three and four levels
Sep 23, 2024
Yale researchers encode three-level and four-level quantum memories in a microwave oscillator. Error correction extends their lifetimes by factors of 1.82 and 1.87 over the corresponding best uncorrected memories in the same device.
Why it matters
Protecting more than two levels per oscillator opens another route to storing more quantum information with less hardware.
