D-Wave makes its 4,400-qubit Advantage2 annealer generally available
May 20, 2025
D-Wave releases Advantage2, its sixth-generation quantum annealer with more than 4,400 qubits, to customers through its Leap cloud service and for on-premises purchase. Annealers are specialized machines aimed mainly at optimization problems rather than general-purpose computing.
Why it matters
Advantage2 is the hardware family behind D-Wave's 2025 claim of beating a supercomputer on a materials simulation, a claim other researchers disputed.
