Innsbruck researchers create entangled states of up to eight ions
Dec 1, 2005
Hartmut Haeffner and colleagues prepare entangled states of four to eight trapped ions on demand. Individual control and measurements let them reconstruct the states and verify that the particles share entanglement.
Why it matters
Preparing and characterizing larger entangled registers tests the control needed to scale quantum information processing beyond a few qubits.
