Yale links superconducting qubits through a microwave cavity

Sep 13, 2007

Johannes Majer and colleagues use a microwave cavity as a quantum bus between superconducting qubits on opposite sides of a chip. They switch the effective coupling and demonstrate coherent transfer of quantum states.

Why it matters

A shared resonator lets separated qubits exchange information, extending superconducting circuits beyond directly connected neighbors.
