Yale demonstrates quantum error correction in a superconducting circuit
Sep 22, 2011
Matthew Reed and colleagues use three superconducting qubits to correct deliberately introduced errors. They demonstrate separate codes for bit flips and phase flips, each in a single pass rather than repeated protection against arbitrary errors.
Why it matters
The experiment brings active error correction to superconducting circuits, while exposing the further control needed for sustained protection.
