UNSW controls an electron-spin qubit bound to one atom in silicon

Sep 19, 2012

Jarryd Pla and colleagues coherently control an electron spin bound to a single phosphorus donor atom in silicon. Their device combines microwave control with electrical measurement of the individual spin.

Why it matters

The result turns a single implanted donor atom into an electrically readable qubit, advancing a silicon-based route to quantum processors.
