A blind quantum-computing protocol lets clients detect incorrect results

Mar 23, 2012

Joseph Fitzsimons and Elham Kashefi propose a way to hide a computation sent to a quantum server and detect cheating. The client prepares and sends individual qubits; its guarantee holds even against a server with unlimited computing power.

Why it matters

The proposal shows how a client with limited quantum equipment could check work delegated to a more powerful quantum server.
