Hamilton and colleagues propose Gaussian boson sampling

Craig Hamilton, Igor Jex and colleagues propose a version of boson sampling that uses Gaussian states of light. It eases a scaling problem of earlier photonic experiments, which struggled to produce many photons at once.

Why it matters

Gaussian boson sampling is the task behind the photonic advantage claims of China's Jiuzhang and Xanadu's Borealis.
