Google releases Cirq for programming quantum computers

Google releases the public alpha of Cirq, an open-source framework for writing quantum programs. It lets researchers tailor circuits to the connections, native operations and timing constraints of real quantum processors.

Why it matters

Cirq gives researchers a shared tool for testing algorithms on early quantum hardware, where device limitations strongly affect what a program can do.
