IBM unveils Eagle, a 127-qubit quantum processor

Nov 16, 2021

At its annual Quantum Summit, IBM announces Eagle, a 127-qubit processor and the first IBM chip with more than 100 qubits. IBM says it marks the point where its quantum circuits can no longer be reliably simulated exactly on a classical computer.

Why it matters

Eagle delivered the 2021 step of the roadmap IBM published in 2020, and it was the chip behind IBM's 2023 "utility" experiment.
