IBM unveils Condor, a 1,121-qubit chip, and the more accurate Heron
Dec 4, 2023
IBM introduces Condor, a 1,121-qubit superconducting processor that it says performs about as well as the 433-qubit Osprey, and Heron, a 133-qubit chip it says delivers a 3 to 5 times improvement in device performance over its predecessor.
Why it matters
Condor met the 1,000-plus-qubit target of IBM's 2020 roadmap, but IBM pointed users to Heron, not Condor, as its highest-performing processor.
