UNSW reads and controls a single nuclear-spin qubit in silicon

Feb 1, 2013

Jarryd Pla and colleagues electrically read the nuclear spin of one phosphorus atom in silicon and control it with radiofrequency pulses. They demonstrate a nuclear-spin qubit within an integrated electronic device.

Why it matters

Controlling an individual nucleus complements electron-spin qubits and provides another route to long-lived quantum information in silicon.
